Neptune's Fountain: The Heart of the Long Market
When you think of Gdańsk, one of the first symbols that comes to mind is undoubtedly Neptune's Fountain. This monument, located on the Long Market, is an absolute must-see for every tourist.
Symbolism
The statue of the God of the Seas was unveiled in the 17th century and since then has continuously reminded us of the maritime power and merchant traditions of old Gdańsk. Legend has it that Neptune, annoyed by tourists throwing gold coins into the fountain, struck the water with his trident, crushing the gold into fine dust. This is how the famous liqueur - Goldwasser - was supposedly created.Ideal Location
